Metal Gear Solid: Rising Revealed

E3 have started and Microsoft took the stage with its press conference. Kojima took the stage at Microsoft's press conference and dropped a major announcement:

Remember all those teasers i post here over the past month? It wasn't the new PSP game. It was, in fact, a completely new series in the Metal Gear franchise.

Titled Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the game appears to mainly focus on the character Raiden, as there were no shots of Solid Snake at all in the extremely vague announcement teaser shown.

While this news comes at the Microsoft presser, no announcements of exclusivity were revealed, so for now, expect this to be multiplatform, or a timed-exclusive at the very least.

Here's the teaser trailer:

Big Boss, Raiden appear as Kojima/Konami teaser resets.

The teaser web site that i reported about last saturday, have been updated. This teaser website is about a mysterious "Kojima Productions Next" project. Many speculation and rumor about this "Next". Any doubt that the mysterious "Kojima Productions Next" project was not part of the Metal Gear Solid canon were erased, when a character from the long-running series appeared on the game's--or games' teaser website.

As part of a countdown teaser--which has now been reset for a third time to end on Sunday, May 31--the site is now flashing a shot of Big Boss, series hero Solid Snake's erstwhile commanding officer and often-nemesis. The characters' semi-youthful age points to a period after Metal Gear Solid 3's Vietnam-era setting and before that of the original Metal Gear.

Several scans of Famitsu magazine show the site will eventually also show another member of the MGS canon, Raiden. Alongside the teaser site's pic of Big Boss, the Raiden image shows the character in futuristic armor--and with one eye patched over--indicating it is from a game set after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4.

The two shots has led to speculation that two separate games may be announced by Kojima Productions and Konami. So far, one title has been all but confirmed for a PlayStation branded platform, while a Metal Gear Solid 4 port is rumored to be coming to the Xbox 360.

More will be revealed at this coming E3. Check back to by blog for the latest developments from the Kojima Productions teaser.
