Review: Cicak-Man 2

Yesterday (16/12/2008), i went to watch Cicak-Man 2 with my little brother. Hoping to watch a great local movie that's one of the kind in its genre in this country. So, here's the review of the movie Cicak-Man 2.

Viewing the trailer a few months ago, makes me excited to watch the movie. The trailer was put up pretty well and the movie looks promising in every aspects. But the final movie didn't put up as high as the trailer goes. The movie was a total blew up. Its disappoint me.

A few days back, i was in Singapore, and i rad the movie section in the newspaper and i saw this 1 guy who critic the movie Cicak-Man 2. He said "The movie is a disappointment and it plays like the 1980's japanese Ultraman show." Well, i couldn't agreed at first since i haven't watch the movie yet. Then, after i watch the movie, i finally met an agreement to what the guy said. It plays like the 1980's japanese Ultraman show.

The movie introduce a few new character, a friend and villain. The new villain is a masked girl with a symbol of butterfly named Rrama. The new friend character is Iman which is Danny sister. Hairi now live with Iman and her mother. It was requested by Danny before he died to have Hairi looked after his mother and sister. Other character make their return in this sequel, the psychotic duo The Ginger Brothers, the mad professor Professor Klon, and Hairi love interest Tania. Danny also making a cameo return in this sequel as a spirit.

There's an improvement from the last movie. There is more action and more drama. But when it comes to the 3D CGI scene, the audience cannot see it very clearly as it was blurred out. As to covered up the crappy animation. The jokes were not super funny first time and were each recycled 3-4 times.

When u watch the movie, u can instantly guess the story line. It was predictable and it look so familiar. Spider-Man 3 i say. When the character was having conflict with himself and its love life.

Some of the earlier previews of this movie said that it will surpass Spider-Man 3. I say it still have a very long way to go. Ultraman? Even the latest Ultraman movie look much more better than this.

Anyway, good job to KRU on creating this movie. Its rare to see a sci-fi superhero movie being created here in Malaysia. Keep up the good work guys and keep on improving for the good of our filming industries.

I gave this movie 2 stars out of 5.
